Showcase Strategy

Now that you have identified your "Right Fit Client" (RFC) and discovered your niche, the next step is to develop your Showcase Strategy.

This is the most effective marketing strategy because it showcases you and your brand. Speaking to an audience of your Right-Fit Clients positions you as the expert in your niche.  By "showcasing" your knowledge and expertise, you are seen as the authority on the topic.  The Showcase Strategy is a great business builder because it invites follow-up and referrals.
 
Public speaking can be daunting if you haven't ever spoken in front of a crowd (or even if you have). These tips will make it easier:
  • Know your audience - knowing the make-up of the crowd you are speaking to will help ensure that you speak their language, and that your topic will be of interest to them.  For example, the way you speak to a group of your peers may be different than speaking to a group of parents/clients.
  • Be prepared - using a brief outline of your talking points, practice what you will say in your presentation.  Don't write it all down verbatim.  You will either end up reading it aloud, instead of speaking to your audience, or you will lose your place and struggle to find it in the notes.  You know the material -- the outline is just a way to stay on track and keep the presentation flowing.
  • Be aware of your body language - command the space and let your body language display your confidence.
  • Make eye contact - pick a few friendly faces and make eye contact with them.  This will help you avoid falling into the scared rabbit trap of darting your eyes around frantically.
  • Speak slowly - Practice talking abnormally slowly. When nervous, we tend to talk faster than normal.  Speaking slowly may seem weird to you, but it will sound normal to your audience.

The next step is finding opportunities to showcase your expertise!  Where do your RFCs gather?  From your local Chamber of Commerce and public library to the PTA, there are many opportunities to present.  Think about groups you could partner with to educate on your topic of expertise.  Even during the pandemic you can reach out to RFC groups to offer online webinars.

It is not enough to be an expert. You must know you are an expert and announce it to the world. Recognition comes only when you take action to position yourself as the expert. Your Showcase Strategy is a method of demonstrating your expertise and marketing yourself to your Right Fit Client.
